Review of my Preview of Matchday 12
The Liverpool vs. Manchester City match on Sunday night concludes Matchday 12. I am now going to look over my predictions in Friday’s preview to see what I got right and what I got wrong. I will also include the highlights of some of the games mentioned.
Reviewing the Predictions
Compared to last weekend, this weekend wasn’t terrible. I went five for ten in all matches, with four correct results and Chelsea beating Crystal Palace 2-0 being my only correctly predicted scoreline. For the correct results, Watford getting their first win over Norwich, Leicester City’s win over Arsenal, Wolves beating Aston Villa, and Manchester United defeating Brighton round it out. With the international break, there are no matches this coming weekend. Not a bad note to end it on.
Reviewing Match of the Weekend
For this weekend I predicted that the game between Liverpool and Manchester City would be the match of the weekend and it did not fail to disappoint. The game ended 3-1 with Liverpool giving up their clean sheet in the 78th minute. The game started with an absolute stunner from Brazilian midfielder Fabinho. However, just before Fabiho’s goal, there was a huge penalty shout for City as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s arm deflected the ball down in his box. Liverpool would go on to score another goal before the half courtesy of Mo Salah and a terrific pass from left-back Andy Robertson. The Reds just looked to quick for City, and though Manchester had some quality attacks, one leading to their late goal, it wasn’t enough. This result is massive for Liverpool’s season; they now sit eight points clear of second and nine points clear of Manchester City, who has gone down to fourth with this loss.

Reviewing Player to watch this weekend
For Matchday 12, I predicted that Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy would be the player to watch this weekend. In the Foxes game, Vardy assisted and scored a goal, adding to his already growing tally of 11 scored on the season. Vardy and Leicester are on their way to another great season as they currently sit second and are in fine form. They showed their dominance over a weary Arsenal side comfortably winning at home, putting them into a comfortable position going into the break.

The Shock of the weekend
There weren’t too many surprising results this weekend. However, 15th place Newcastle defeating 7th place Bournemouth took a few by surprise. Newcastle was coming off a 3-2 victory over West Ham and looked decent; however, the recent form of the Cherries looked to push the result in their favor. Nevertheless, the Magpies came out on top and moved themselves up to 13th, while Bournemouth fell to 9th. Both sides have relatively tough games coming up and will look to the international break to recover and improve.

Matchday 12 was a big week for the Premier League with only one team, Liverpool, holding its position on the table. Now we go into the international break, which means Premier League football doesn’t return until next weekend. Matchday 13 kicks off in London with West Ham hosting Tottenham. Be sure to come back next Friday to read my predictions for Matchday 13.
